Straw Fedora Trend Alert

Fedoras have always been a classic option when it comes to hats. But the most recent trend? Straw fedoras.
And being someone who hates wearing hats, I have to say, I still LOVE this trend. Celebrities everywhere are loving the it as well.

What do you think of straw fedoras?

Bandeau Top from Old Cami Tutorial and a New Song

I HATE layering with camisoles. They always get bunched up underneath my shirt and I wind up awkwardly tugging at them to stay in the right spot. Oh and if I'm wearing them underneath a dress... forget about it. I  get the horrible little bump that looks like a roll underneath the from the cami bunching up, and I can't even fix it without lifting up the entire dress. Does anyone else have this problem?! I feel like I'm the only one with an extreme hatred toward cami's.
Anyway.
The other day as I was rushing out the door, I realized the loose fitting tank top I was wearing had the underarms cut out so far that you could see the side of my bra when I lifted my arms. Pretty trashy looking :( So I thought, now would be a great time to try out that new bandeau top trend underneath my tank, since a cami would be the only other solution and they obviously annoy the crap out of me.
(Left: From the Victoria's Secret Catalogue     Right: Jennifer Lopez)

Except where was I going to get a bandeau top with only 5 minutes to spare before I had to leave?! Well here is how I did that. (With still a minute to spare ;) hehe..but no seriously. It was that quick. )

1. Found an old too-small, tight fitting cotton cami to reconstruct (So glad to get rid of it hehehe)

2. Put the cami on myself, only upside down. (so the straps were at the bottom of the shirt) I marked how long I wanted the bandeau to be, leaving a bit extra so I had room to hem it. I cut horizontally across the shirt where i made my mark

3. I pinned the raw edge down, and sewed the pinned edge down to create a cleaner hem

And alas, no more trashy overexposed underarms. Now if you have a smaller bust, you may have to take the side seams in a little so the bandeau doesn't fall down. Although I don't see it as being much of a problem if you used a tight fitting cami, because it will stretch to fit your shape.

I would post a picture of me wearing the bandeau, but I feel like it would just be a really awkward picture considering it'd be wearing very minimal clothing.

And on a musical note, I have a new song on my YouTube page. It's a cover of The Only Exception by Paramore. I would seriously love you forever if you could take the time to listen and let me know what you think!

Cat Eyeliner Tutorial

Another makeup tutorial for yaaaa…This one's super easy, but for some reason it's been my most requested tutorial so far. So here it is! I basically wear just this and mascara every day. It's such a classic, clean look, and can be done by even the most inexperienced makeup artist ;) Enjoy! And if you have any requests for a makeup/hair video, leave me a comment and I will do my best to make one soon for you!

FBFF: Location Influence

The awesome fashion blog, Modly Chic, has a link party every Friday where fashion bloggers answer a questionnaire on their blog about their style so their readers and other bloggers can learn a little more about them. This week I decided to participate. (Even though it's Saturday now...oops!) The questions are about where you live and how it influences your style. I encourage you to check out the link party and join if you have a fashion blog too!
1. What part of the world do you blog from? I'm blogging from New Jersey. The Jersey Shore, in fact. But NO, it is nothing like you see on the TV Show "The Jersey Shore". That cast isn't even really from Jersey haha no one around here actually acts like that, I assure you. No Snookie poofs found here :)

2. If you had to describe the overall mode of dress for where you live what would you say? A lot of people around here dress very casually on a day to day basis. I wish people dressed up more often because I'm always that random girl wearing heels when everyone else is in flip-flops.

3. Do you fit in with the status quo around you or do you break the mold? I definitely break the mold. Not that I wear things that are socially unacceptable or anything, but I'm usually the one of the first people to introduce the new trends in my school. And I like to be different than everyone else. That's partially why I love crafting so much, because I make things no one else in the world can possibly have.
Guess which prom shoes are mine..... I obviously like being different :)
4. If you have lived or traveled to another part of the country/world did your clothing choices evolve? Definitely! I mean, I'd hardly say going onto NYC qualifies as traveling because it's fairly close to where I live, but I can be much more dressed up and fashion forward when I go there, because EVERYONE is.
5. If you had to describe your style by naming a specific city, what would you be? That's a difficult question. It honestly depends on the day for me! Sometimes I'm definitely a NYC girl, other days I look like I'm right out of the Jersey Shore. (The beach, not the show of course hehe)

Oh Hey, Look...I'm In A Magazine?!

Just felt the need to share this. I'm on page 27 of Supermodels Unlimited Magazine. You can pick it up in any bookstore like Barnes and Noble if you'd like to see :)
The text says: "Lindsay is an actress, singer, model and designer. She goes to a high school for the performing arts and performs daily. Lindsay designs, makes, and sells her own clothing and accessories."
WIN.
It was just funny because this issue has been out for a while and I had no clue. I was just at a bookstore with my friend and we were flipping through magazines and there it was. Made my night :)
